LOFT Coder Summit 

The Hispanic Heritage Foundation and Infosys Foundation USA are excited to host our first ever Virtual LOFT Coder Summit on December 9, 2020 as Latin@ coders gather to share ideas, energy and cultural pride! 

 

This Summit is part of HHF's broader Code as a Second Language (CSL) national initiative which has included LOFT Coder Summits across the country.


If you are a student passionate in coding, computer programming, hacking, developing, and/ or computer science, we invite you to be a part of this unparalleled experience. 

 

Join HHF as we debunk the technology industry’s greatest myths, and help bring together coders from across the nation, both students and professionals alike, to celebrate Latino culture, innovation and passion for computer programming.

 

The Summit is a free two-hour event filled with panel discussions, innovative workshop experience, and opportunities to expand your network— please join us in redefining the landscape of computer technology through a heightened collaboration and representation of like-minded Latin@ students and professionals, all united and ignited by their endless passion for technology.

Antonio Tijerino

President and CEO, Hispanic Heritage Foundation @HHFoundation

Antonio Tijerino is the President and CEO of the Hispanic Heritage Foundation (HHF). Tijerino serves on various boards including Harvard’s Latino Leadership Initiative at the Kennedy School, University of Maryland’s Smith School of Business, and the National PTA, among others. He has been honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award by the National PTA; the prestigious Ohtli Award, which is the highest recognition by the Government of Mexico outside of Mexico; Vision Award by the Silicon Valley Latino Leadership; and the Digital Hero Award by the Multicultural, Media and Technology Council, among others. Tijerino was recently featured on the cover of Latino Magazine as one of 10 Who Made a Difference, presented a TED Talk, and was invited to the Aspen Institute’s Rennaisance Weekend with national thought leaders. 

Vandana Sikka

Vandana Sikka has a master’s degree in computer science from India. Vandana is a strong advocate of the universal right to education, especially for the disadvantaged. She believes that education is a great equalizer and can help bridge inequality around the world. She is a champion of the differently abled and believes that they can thrive if given the right opportunities in education, skill development, and work.

Emanuel Pleitez

Chairperson of the Hispanic Heritage Foundation

Emanuel is an investor at Sunstone Partners, a technology investment firm. Prior to Sunstone Partners, he served as a Commissioner for the Los Angeles Fire and Police Pensions and Head of Strategy and Business Development for Qlovi, an education technology startup. Before joining Qlovi, Emanuel was a candidate for Mayor of Los Angeles and the Chief Strategy Officer for Spokeo. His private sector experience also includes being a Business Analyst at McKinsey & Company and a Financial Analyst at Goldman Sachs. In the public sector, Emanuel has served as Special Assistant to Chairman Paul Volcker in the U.S. Department of the Treasury and Designated Federal Officer of President Obama’s Economic Recovery Advisory Board (PERAB). In addition, Emanuel is currently a soldier in the U.S. Army Reserve and the Chairman of the Hispanic Heritage Foundation. A Los Angeles native, he holds a B.A. from Stanford University.

Jacqueline Huerta

 Senior Java Developer at Infosys

Jacqueline is a senior level software engineer with over 8 years of experience on development of robust, highly scalable, Java Enterprise applications. Adaptable and reliable bilingual professional with experience as technical lead on medium sized projects. Proficient across all stages of the software development lifecycle, from requirements elicitation to production support and troubleshooting, optimizing and maintaining under best principles.

Vishwa Ranjan

Industry Principal for Enterprise Applications of Augmented and Virtual Reality

Vishwa, along with other collegues, is leading the effort at Infosys to build a Center of Excellence (CoE) for AR/VR with the goal of helping create unique, innovative, and compelling AR/VR experiences and custom end­to­end solutions for its clients.

He has been cited in Cinefex and VFX Pro (premier special effects journals), and in SIGGRAPH (leading computer graphics conference) for making significant contribution to the technology behind blockbuster films and award­winning commercials.


Vishwa holds a doctorate degree in computer graphics from the University of British Columbia and a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur.

Raquel Romano

Senior Software Engineer, Google @romanorar

Raquel Romano is a Senior Software Engineer on Google's accessibility team. Her past work at Google includes using machine learning to recognize text in imagery, building digital crisis response tools and services for responding to natural disasters, and serving as the technical lead for Google.org. She earned her MS and PhD in Computer Science at the MIT Artificial Intelligence Laboratory and her BA in mathematics from Harvard University. She is a founding member of Latinas in Computing, a worldwide community of Latina computer scientists.

Aaron Moss

Practice Lead - Executive and Campus Hiring at Infosys

Aaron Moss manages the recruitment for Executive, Campus and Innovative hiring across the Americas for Infosys.

Here at Infosys we are looking to grow our Global Markets team. He has a flair for building strong relationships and engaging stakeholders at senior executive level providing supportive and pragmatic solutions to their recruitment and resourcing needs. After receiving his BS in Computer Science and Aritificial Intelligence, he has worked across EMEA, Asia and North America.

Eutiquio "Tiq" Chapa

Program Manager, Stanford Latino Entrepreneurship Initiative @TiqChapa108 

Tiq attended Stanford University where he earned his B.A. in Urban Studies and Affairs. Tiq has had the opportunity to spend time at NIKE, Stanford’s Management Company, and the White Initiative for Hispanic Excellence in Education, before co-founding a startup. In 2013, he joined the Hispanic Heritage Foundation as the LOFT (Latinos on Fast Track) Innovation Director with the goal of providing Latino/as with access to technology and preparing them for positions in innovation fields. A Mobile UX Designer, Tiq returned to Stanford in 2014 to become the Program Manager for its Latino Entrepreneurship Initiative, a program devoted to serving Latino tech and small business entrepreneurs by offering and providing Stanford’s academic resources and network.
